Everglades National Park, Flamingo

Without a doubt my favorite place on the planet! Less than 45 miles southwest of Miami is where you will enter Everglades National Park and it is also here where civilization, progress, malls, golf courses, you name it stop dead in their tracks. At the end of the road is Flamingo.

The essence of Flamingo is the access it provides to the hard core angler. Here you have two boat ramps, one to fish Florida bay and another that provides entry into the backcountry where you connect to bodies of water like Whitewater Bay, Hell's Bay, Shark River and the Gulf coast to name a few. The remote waters surrounding Flamingo is what make it a world class fishery and why people travel from all over the globe to fish here. 
     Anglers that come here, come with purpose, you don't stumble upon Flamingo. Fishing within the park boundaries is undoubtedly the most diverse in all of Florida and perhaps anywhere on the planet. Targeted species of fish within the park reads like a who’s-who of game fish: tarpon, snook, redfish, seatrout, bonefish, permit, etc. Angling methods within the park parallels its diversity. Whether it is fly fishing or light tackle that you prefer, there are a variety of approaches and skill levels from beginner to expert. If your looking for that truly remote outdoor experience than Flamingo, Everglades National Park is your place. Note, “put on bucket list”. Once you have been here it is just a matter of time when you will return!
